Corbin Intermediate School students participated in a Holiday for Heroes campaign. The school collected 259 student made cards which will be distributed to veterans and their families. The campaign is through the American Red Cross who will collect the cards and distribute them out of the local chapter in Lexington, Kentucky.
“It is a great project for students to join in writing Christmas cards wishing these heroes and their families a Merry Christmas and thanking them for their service,” Corbin Intermediate Teacher Angela Whitus said.
Some of the cards will also be distributed to local heroes. Students who know someone who has served in the military were able to submit the name and address to the school so a card could mailed to them as well.
