Corbin Elementary students participated in the Redhound Challenge outdoor obstacle course.
All students had the opportunity to participate in the challenge. The students participated in numerous obstacles from climbing walls to tire runs. The goal of the event was to teach students the importance of physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and provide needed equipment to foster the environment.
“Our staff also ran the challenge at the end to show our students that physical fitness is an important part of life no matter what your age!” Corbin Elementary Principal Chris Webb said.
The challenge was organized by the Corbin Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, PTO, to raise funds to expand playground equipment and storage as well as place two water bottle filling stations in the school. Students collected sponsorships for the run and raised nearly $9,000.
Baptist Family Fitness and Baptist Health partnered with the school to educate students on the importance of healthy lifestyle habits during the event. The students had the opportunity to earn Redhound Challenge t-shirts and water bottles and trophies were provided to the male and female winner from each grade level.
