The Groundbreaking of the new Corbin Middle School was held Tuesday, June 28 at the new location of 50 Ed McNeel Drive (the former Saint Camillus property).
The Corbin Schools Board of Education Members, Superintendent David Cox, Deputy Superintendent Ramona Davis, Corbin Middle School Principal Cindy Davis, former Superintendent Ed McNeel, Corbin City Mayor Willard McBurney, and House Representative Regina Bunch joined Corbin Schools students to break the ground at the site. The participating students will be the first class to attend the new middle school.
Numerous community members attended the event. The ceremony began with the National Anthem performed by the Corbin Middle School Choir, followed by comments from Superintendent Cox, Board Chair Croley, former Superintendent McNeel, Principal Davis, Mayor McBurney, and Representative Bunch. The groundbreaking and balloon release took place after the comments and a short reception was held following the ceremony.
