The Corbin High School Roasting Redhounds Junior Chef team competed in the state tournament at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville, Kentucky last week.
Corbin High School was one of only 16 teams across Kentucky to advance to the state tournament. The students prepared baked chicken taquios with a homemade salsa and a cilantro lime ranch dip.
The Roasting Redhounds fell to Apollo High School by 1.3 points at the tournament. The dishes are judged based on safety and sanitation, group cooperation, plating, taste, use of time, and how easily the dish could be implemented into the school lunch program.
The Roasting Redhounds Junior Chef team consists of Corbin High School Students Sarah Sawyers, Sarah Gregory, Cheyenne Rose, and Francis Rameriz. This is the second year Corbin High School has had a Junior Chef team and both years the team has won the regional tournament to advance to the state competition.
