CHS Students participate in Ghost tours contests

Corbin High School students participated in the Corbin Public Library’s annual Ghost Tours writing and art contest. 

Corbin High School Freshman Emily Foster won the writing contest with her short story, “Something Strange in the Night.” Emily shared her story as part of the tour. Corbin High School Junior Makenzie Walden won the art contest. Her artwork was used as the promotional poster for the Ghost Walk Event. The top winners for each contest were:

Writing Contest
1st - Emily Foster - Something Strange in the Night
2nd - Mary McHargue-Be Careful Who You Make Friends With
3rd - Josh Fryer-The White One

Art/Poster Contest
1st - Mackenzie Walden
2nd - Olivia Moody
3rd - Bethany Owens
Honorable Mention - Meghan Wynn, Jenna Johnson, and Brenna Ingle

First place winners received a $50 Books-A-Million gift card, second place received a $25 Applebees gift card, third place received a $10 Tri-County Cineplex gift card, and honorable mention received a WalMart gift card. Prizes were provided by the Corbin Public Library.

The contest was open to all Corbin High School students. There were approximately 60 art and short story entries.
