The Corbin Independent School District is pleased to announce the selection of Tonya Proffitt as the new Corbin Primary School Assistance Principal, effective January 2016.
Proffitt was announced as the new Corbin Primary assistant principal at a reception held October 7 at Corbin Primary School.
"Being selected as the assistant principal at Corbin Primary is such an honor and blessing. I am excited to begin this new adventure in my career and am anxious to join the CPS family in January." Proffitt said.
Proffitt has 11 years of teaching experience. She currently teaches fifth grade reading, writing, and science at Corbin Intermediate School. She has served as a teacher in the Corbin Independent School District for nine years. Prior to joining Corbin Schools, she taught at Oak Grove Elementary for two years.
As a teacher, Proffitt has been very active at Corbin Intermediate School. She is a fifth grade team leader, C.A.P.T master teacher in partnership with EKU, member of Corbin Intermediate’s Culture Committee and Writing Committee, served on the site base council three years, coached three Odyssey of the Mind teams, and past South East South Central K-5 ELA Network teacher leader.
Proffitt commented while she is excited for her new journey as an administrator she will miss her students and the time she has spent at Corbin Intermediate School. “It is also a bitter-sweet event, as I will have to leave a classroom full of wonderful students whom I love dearly, as well as say good bye to a building full of wonderful friends. I am so grateful for the support that my CIS family has shown me. Over the years, I have learned so much from each person there and that knowledge along with the experience gained has helped prepare me for the role ahead.” Proffitt said.
Proffitt will replace Cindy Davis who recently accepted the principal position at Corbin Middle School.
