Corbin High School art students placed in the Region Ossoli Women’s Art Contest.
Corbin High School Junior Ariel Cline placed first in needlework and painting and will advance to the state art contest in the spring. Cline also received second place in pen and ink drawing. Senior Charleen Holly placed third for her ceramic Horse Sculpture. All entries into the competition were created in Corbin High School art classes in 2015. Cline entered three pieces, Holly entered one piece, and Senior Sloan Lowans entered one piece.
“We didn’t have as many entries this year but it is still a good opportunity for the students to display their work. Art students are encouraged to enter contests and show their work to the public, especially students in the art career pathway. This is a good chance for students to enter a local art contest outside of the school that can go onto a state level.” Corbin High School Art Teacher Brenda Daniel said.
The Women’s Ossoli club hosts the art contest every year. Corbin High School art students are always encouraged to participate.
“The club has a lot of wonderful programs that benefit area schools and Corbin High School is fortunate to have such a great group in this town,” Daniel said.
