Corbin Middle School students participated in a Global Service Learning Project raising $215 for refugees in war torn parts of the Middle East.
The Marker Spaces club conducted a school wide project to raise the money for the refugees. Partnering with a non-profit organization, Students Rebuild, CMS students made pinwheels to send to the refugee children. For each pinwheel sent, Students Rebuild donated $2.50 to the cause.
The money raised was used to create Healing Classrooms for the refugees. Healing Classrooms are set up in refugee camps to create a sense of normalcy for the tens of thousands of children displaced by war. The money goes toward classroom supplies, books, toys, and other learning materials.
By participating in the project Corbin Middle School students were able to learn about global conflicts, current events, and the refugee crisis.
