CHS, CMS Academic Team students Advance to State

Corbin High School Academic Team students will advance to the state competition in Louisville, Kentucky March 19 - 21. 

The Academic Team received second place overall at the region tournament held at Barbourville High School. The team competed against 12 school from across the region. The following students placed in the region competition and will advance to compete at the State Tournament. 

Math

The individual students will participate in state by completing written tests in their subject area. The high school academic team is coached by Chris Kinsel.

CMS Academic Team

The Corbin Middle School Governor’s Cup Academic Team will advance to the State Competition in Louisville, Kentucky March 19 - 21. 

The team had four students score high enough at regionals to advance to the State Competition.

The Corbin Middle School Governor’s Cup Team consists of 13 students in grades 6th through 8th. Prior to advancing to the regional competition, the following students placed at the district competition, Kami Garland placed 2nd in composition and 3rd in math, Sarah Pederson placed 4th in language arts and 4th in math, Camden Mackey placed 4th in science, Alex Miller placed 5th in science, Madeline Lawson placed 1st in composition and 3rd in language arts, Lauren Shackleford placed 3rd in arts and humanities, and Chaz Disney placed 4th in arts and humanities.

The middle school team is coached by Joey Abner, Victor Bramlett, and Melissa Shackleford.
