The literature fair consisted of performances and presentations regarding numerous books and authors. The high school students recited poems, dialogue from plays, performed skits, and even demonstrated a dance from the Romeo and Juliet movie.
They also delivered talks and exhibitions on chosen authors and books. Each presentation included documentation, pictures, and activities for the sixth grade students. The high school students dressed up as authors or characters from their chosen books.
Aside from the groups presenting, the fair also featured face painting, popcorn, court jesters who flipped through the crowd, a book stand, and other activities. The purpose of the fair was to generate interest in literature as well as introduce new mediums, vocabulary, and concepts. The fair gave students in both grade levels the opportunity to share knowledge.
“The fair was very successful. I could not be prouder of our students. That talent and dedication to the assignments were remarkable.” Corbin High School English Teacher Brian Theodore said.
The Corbin High School English department hopes to make the fair an annual event. Approximately 270 sixth grade students attended this year.
