Corbin Middle School and Corbin High School students attended a cyber bullying assembly last week.
Scott Harvey, of Speaking of Harvey, was the speaker at the event. Harvey spoke to the students regarding social media etiquette and cyber bullying. His message addressed the dangers of social media and how people of all ages are self destructing due to the irresponsible use technologies. He explained how online posts, photos, and videos could lead to serious consequences including physical or emotional harm, legal charges, and future problems.
Harvey also explained his IamSomeone Campaign, which encourages students to take a stand against cyber bullying and be there for others. He spoke about student suicides due to bullying and informed the audience that most students just want their peers to listen and care.
All Corbin Middle and High School students attended the event. Harvey has hosted more than 282 events nationwide. He speaks to students, parents, and corporations across the nation regarding responsible social media use and related issues. Harvey is a police officer with the Nicholasville Police Department and has a background in teaching the D.A.R.E program.
