Corbin Schools are promoting the Attendance Awareness Month Campaign. Attendance Awareness Month is celebrated each September nationwide to promote the connection between school attendance and academic achievement.
Corbin Schools are promoting the month by offering incentives to students. The goal is to teach students the importance of being present and punctual.
“Punctuality was listed as one of the top qualities employers are looking for in an employee,” Corbin High School Principal John Crawford said. “Teaching students the importance of attendance and punctuality now will only serve to help them in their future careers.”
Corbin High School is offering lunch on the grounds to any student with 98% attendance or higher for the month of September. Lunch on the grounds will allow students to enjoy a grill out at the high school during their lunch period. They are also offering an ice cream desert to the lunch period with the highest attendance.
Corbin Middle School is hosting battle of the lunches for their incentive. The lunch period with the highest attendance will receive an ice cream sundae party as well as an extended lunch. They are also offering untuck passes for students with 98% attendance.
Corbin Intermediate School is also offering an ice cream sundae party for the lunch period with the highest attendance as well a skating party at Finley’s Fun Center for the team of classes with the highest attendance through fall break.
Corbin Elementary School is promoting the same incentive they do each year, the opportunity to duct tape Principal Chris Webb to the wall of the gym. The school will also host class parties for the highest attendance and snow cones for perfect attendance.
Corbin Primary School is offering a Froyoz party for the class with the highest attendance in each grade level. The students will also get an attendance charm for their new Brag Tags. Brag Tags are small bracelets/key chains that hold charms to reward students for their hard work. Attendance will also be included on the students grade cards.
